The Man We All Call The Minister

Many people perform their own background, but never in so many styles. 

That is why he is also called: SONGSTYLIST!!!

The Beginning of his career:

His music career started in the late eighties with WAJJI Records of Washington D.C. The contract lasted for 3 years and 2 albums.  All traditional gospel.  John Butler, needed to see for himself if he had what it took to make it with a music career, by enter 38 talent shows.  He won 37 talent shows in a row, and was disqualified from the 38th talent show at Lisner auditorium, because of his professional status around town.

He then, later traveled to New York and met with Polygram, Mercury and several other major record labels.  Having the talent to proceed.  Two of the labels offered contracts, but John Butler refused to sign after realizing that he would be locked in a three year deal, that would keep him under contract for seven years after the artist to label project obligations were completed.  Furthermore, the signing bonus of $100,000 was only a loan with 300% interest, and no opportunity for ownership.

The Growing Years:

Observing how the industry was not designed to offer the artist lifelong security, John Butler decided to stay independent and in 1995, he left his engineering career and he started his on record label Mylestone Records, Inc.  In the same year, he started Next Level Publishing Company.  He than continued to write songs, copyright and register with the Performance Rights Organization (BMI).  Between 1995 and 2009, he has recorded 130 compositions, with 91 written by him.  He has traveled the U.S. and abroad performing, and has recently completed a four year, 45 weeks a year tour, with Army and Air force Exchange Service.

20 Years Later, and He's Still Going Strong:

At this present time, Dr. John Butler is spending time mentoring and producing other artist projects, as well as, working on recording 100 songs in 2010, with the mindset to complete 300 career recordings, and 150 videos. It is a HALL of FAME run.  His personally belief is to pursue, and press toward the prize of the mark.
